Selling our best players to Arseanal.
As some of you may, or may not know, I’ve been very forthcoming with my views with regards to us selling our best player to Arsenal.

The main reason for me starting this thread, is not so all the the people who are not ok with the move, and all the people that are not so bothered about the move, start arguing amongst themselves about who’s right or wrong.

Although, it’s important on a personal level, I think there’s a bigger discussion to be had.

For me, I feel like we have set a dangerous precedent, because unlike when we sold off the family jewels to Chelsea & Tottenham ( which was fucking terrible) it was made very, very clear, that the fan base was far from happy and that this shouldn’t be a regular occurrence.

The danger we have with selling to Arsenal, in my opinion, is that we as a fan base, won’t make too much of a fuss, thus potentially, leading to our board thinking that it’s ok for us to be selling more of our best players to them in the future.

For those of you that are more bothered about us selling our best players to Arsenal, how can we as a fan base, stop this from happening?

Would those that aren’t so bothered about us selling our best players to Arsenal, be more bothered, if it were to become a more regular occurrence? Or maybe, you still wouldn’t be too bothered?

Finally, I’d just like to make you all aware, that this is the first ever thread I’ve ever created.

Please don’t be too rough with me - take it slowly, be gentle and please lubricate well.

Who are Arsenal going to want out of our lot realistically??

On a slight tangent, I wonder if Hugh Monteith/Twin Hammer is dead?

If anything would have brought him out of the woodwork, it would have been us finally selling a player to Arsenal.

Rossal,

It doesn’t have to be a player from the present squad players - it could be anytime in the future.

We've barely sold more than one player to Arsenal in over a hundred years. I sincerely doubt its going to become a regular occurance.

Although, we sold Cole and Johnson to Chelsea, then Carrick and Defoe to Spurs, so these things tend to happen in pairs, looks like Cornet to Arsenal is on then?

Cholo,

If we do become more of a force in the future we will be exactly the kind of club Arsenal will now come sniffing around.

Especially, now that we’ve set the precedent.

Cholo,

I sincerely hope you’re right - and that I’m being paranoid.

But I can really see this being a more regular occurrence.

Also, can anyone tell me, when have we ever bought Arsenal’s Chelsea’s or Tottenham’s best players?

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
It doesn't matter who the buying club is, if they are going to offer a record transfer fee then we will sell to them.

I don't have an issue with that, providing the money is invested back into the squad and we improve as a club.

Fucking hell - what do I do here? As thread starter, am I obliged to answer all questions?

Help I’m scared, I want to get off.

I think they'd love paqueta there too, but I'm not sure sum was specifically talking about arsenal. this next level bollocks, where we have a 60,000+ stadium with maximum season ticket sales yet still selling on our best to shitbag clubs like arsenal. that latest article by southon about young potts as the answer to declan's move sums up what we have running the club. absolute fucking circus

Does Arsenal's and Spurs's record goal scores count?

Well past there best, but we did sign them.

Takashi Miike,

I am being specific to Arsenal.

But, of course, some stuff will apply generally.

And for all you pendants, yes both records have now been broken. But at the time....

If Paqueta plays this up coming season how he finished last season he could well be off next summer but that's a long way off.

Our best players either almost always get sold or get injured before we get that chance

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
The difference with this transfer is that we held the cards and got a very decent fee.

Rio left and moved again two years later for another 20 odd million and Carrick left for next to nothing.
Cole Defoe Johnson also sold for a relative song following relegations and Lampard s fee can also be considered that when you take into account what he achieved.at Chelsea.

Rice may of course move again in a couple of years (in his prime) for a lot more but it's far from certain and hopefully we would have copped the add ons (to £120m) and maybe be on a sell on.
Either way we paid nothing for him and paid him a lot less in wages during his time here than most of our other top players so although sad to lose him I feel it wasn't bad business for the club.
He now has it all to prove at the Arse
Time will tell.

Everybody has a price.
Arsenal were willing to pay our asking price.
EVERYONE involved in the deal was happy.
We move on.
BARMAN.!!!!!!!

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
If you want to stop us selling players to any specific club, you need to acquire a controlling interest in the club and refuse to do business with that club. Otherwise, the owners will always deal with whoever makes the most financial sense for their assets. They are not going to sell a player at a discount or let a valuable asset run down their contract and go for nothing just because a few people moan on a forum.

There is definitely sum a ding Wong if you are obsessing about Arsenal like this. Chill out by taking a leaf out of pulhampete’s book.

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
So apart from Rice at a record transfer fee, who are these other “best players” we have been or going to be selling to Arsenal?
